She hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife. Then she realised there was a contradiction involved here and merely hoped that there wasn't an afterlife.

A space that is me · 6 June 06

Upon first entering, the room could perhaps be described as somewhat confused. Although comfortably arranged, it is clear that no design has been adhered to, that there has never been a particular style in mind. This effect is somewhat enhanced by the lack of a specific delineated function. Although clearly a bedroom, this is also a room that has been furnished to be a pleasant place to pass some time. While looking around, impressions gradually impinge upon the consciousness, the odd thing catches the eye. The furniture is an eclectic assortment of items. Nothing particularly special, although nothing that can be accused of jarringly representing an extreme of function over form. An accumulation of items, but not entirely lacking in evidence of some discrimination. The manifold personal touches very rapidly begin to invade the senses. No judicious hand has selected a few choice items, placed this one here, that one there then stood back to admire the overall effect. Rather, a home has been found for anything and everything that has some appeal, for the eye, the senses or the memories they represent. Underlying it all is a feeling that every item that passes through is given its chance, evaluated, allowed to loiter for a while to see if it can be found a purpose in life; nothing is lightly discarded.

  1. See, I would have just wrote: “My room is a mess”.

This is why your writing is cooler. ;)

  3. Halloo, just checking in to let you know I’m still popping over to this site from time to time! Nice writing! Is that an appropriate comment? Heck, I think so.
